1. Ali's Curio Market
Housed in the old Police Headquarters, this is a good place to shop for souvenirs. Athough it's comparatively small, the market offers a surprisingly large choice of curios, clothing and jewellery. Prices and quality vary as the market comprises a number of independently-run market stalls. One of the better buys are the kangas (cotton wraps) which are beautifully decorated.

2. Cloth Market
This must be one of the best places to go for kangas, kikois and tie dye fabrics. The kangas have Swahili slogans or proverbs on their hems. They are very popular around East Africa and Mombasa is probably one of the best places to buy a pair.
The prices for the cloths are usually set so it’s unlikely you will be able to barter a trader down much. Expect to pay between KSh 300 and KSh 400.
