«Золотой век, кажется, возвращается» Christian Dior, 1948

Выставка, проходящая с 7 декабря 2008 года по 22 марта 2009 года в городе Бендиго (BENDIGO), Австралия, организована лондонским Музеем Альберта и Виктории (the Victoria and Albert Museum, London).

Выставка посвящена одному из наиболее интересных и ярких десятилетий в истории моды. Начиная с Нового Образа Кристиана Диора (Christian Dior’s New Look) стартовавшего после Второй мировой войны, она исследует работы Диора и его последователей в течение периода, когда высокая мода находилась на пике своего развития.

Приуроченная к 60-летней годовщине запуска Нового Образа в 1947 году, выставка шаг за шагом реставрирует процесс, когда Диоровские платья, навеянные балетными юбками, обозначили переход к роскоши и элегантности послевоенной эпохи. В ряду икон стиля и гламура, венчающих период, выставка представляет работы Dior, Cristуbal Balenciaga, Hubert de Givenchy и Pierre Balmain в Париже, а также их лондонских коллег - Norman Hartnell и Hardy Amies. Не обойдены вниманием и другие выдающиеся кутюрье того времени, такие как Fath, Griffe, Stiebel и Michael of London.

На выставке представлено более 100 платьев, включая дневные, коктейльные и вечерные наряды, созданные для светских вечеринок или венценосных особ, фотографии Cecil Beaton и Richard Avedon, а также оригинальные документальные и голливудские фильмы.

Винтажная обувь: Roger Vivier

Roger Vivier started working for Elsa Schiaparelli in the 1930s. He went on to work with many other couturiers and collaborated with Dior when the New Look brought emphasis to the ankle and foot. Vivier created a number of innovative heel shapes for Dior, including the comma heel and the stiletto.

Винтажная одежда для кукол: Miss Virginia Lachasse

Miss Lachasse was one of a collection of fashion dolls created for a touring exhibition to raise money for the Greater London Fund for the Blind. She was based on Virginia Woodford, the leading model at the Lachasse couture house in Mayfair.

Her wardrobe shows the clothes a typical couture client would possess. It includes lingerie, accessories and jewellery, made specially by exclusive London companies such as Asprey. It also has what is thought to be the smallest pair of nylon stockings ever made.

The Théâtre de la Mode dolls of 1945-6 functioned as ambassadors for French couture in their world-wide tour after the war. Miss Lachasse, with her equally exquisite miniaturisation of fashionable dress, shows London's skills.
